Job Description

The primary purpose of this position is to accurately determine eligibility for Reserve of the Air Force (ResAF) Officer promotion consideration for the rank of First Lieutenant (1st Lt) through Colonel (Col) (Air Force Reserve – AFR) and 1st Lt through Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) (Air National Guard – ANG).

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, audits, evaluates, determines eligibility for promotion consideration.
  • Collects, reviews and manages Promotion Recommendation Forms (PRFs) for mandatory and position vacancy promotion boards.
  • Determines and performs Date of Rank (DOR) computations/adjustments using the information provided from Accessions/Appointment packages.
  • Constructs promotion orders.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes maintaining personnel records by thoroughly screening, filing, and ensuring correct documentation is included to keep them current, complete, and accurate in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures; and process actions and determine eligibility for a variety of personnel actions within purview of program.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed graduate level education in a field directly related which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of school transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of experience as described in the job opportunity announcement and education. Therefore, I have a combination of experience and education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

1. Knowledge of fundamental laws, principles, systems, policies, methods Air Force Instruction, Operating Instructions,practices, procedures and common terminology involved in performing military officer promotion practices and procedures specifically as they are related to promotion programs and central selection boards and the application of such.

2. Knowledge of AFPROMS, MilPDS, RMVS, eBoss, CMS, RNT, and ARMs software applications used to support officer boards.

3. Knowledge of the military HR system of record and the procedures/requirements regarding military personnel records maintenance and the ability to operate systems w/current software, databases, programs to research, analyze and document information.
