Essential Job Duties:
The primary purpose of the Content Development Specialist position will be to strengthen and support NC State Poole College of Management brand through audience-focused content development and management. The Content Development Specialist must be a talented storyteller and work comfortably in multiple formats including articles, press releases, web, email and collateral. Must be comfortable using an online content management system.
*Primary duties of the Content Development Specialist include but are not limited to the following:
- Serving as the main editor for the future Poole research news platform, generate thought leadership story ideas, produce original content and manage content production.
- Identifying needs to support written content with original or curated visual content, including photography, videography, infographics, etc.
- Updating the comprehensive editorial calendar. Provide monthly/quarterly/yearly analytics reports with actionable insights and implement them in editorial planning .
- Producing key college’s publications, including a research newsletter.
- Producing other types of original content, including student success stories, giving impact stories and major announcements.
- Producing and schedule key college newsletters, including weekly Poole Connections and monthly Alumni/Friends Connections.
- Other duties as assigned, including serving as a backup for the social media specialist, support the marketing team with other projects
Minimum Experience/Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

- Strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong relationship-building skills and a demonstrated ability to work across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, senior-level administrators and staff.
- Must be a team player with willingness to support members of the marketing team as well as other units in the college.
- Ability to work with ambiguity.
- Advanced knowledge of WordPress or similar CMS system.
- Basic skills in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Lumen 5, etc. (or similar software)
- Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
- Photography skills
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:
* Previous experience working with freelancers, agencies and student workers.
* Preference will be given to candidates who have strong research writing and web analytics experience.
